Poodle is a recognized breed of water dog that comes in four varieties based on sizes – standard, medium, miniature, and toy. However, the medium poodle is not recognized universally as the others. The history of the Poodle is a little twisted as some state the breed was originally developed in Germany while others say it has French origins.

Originally, the Standard Poodle was used back in time by wildfowl hunters who needed to bring in their catch from the water. The smaller varieties of the dog were bred from the French versions and were used as circus performers until they now become popular companion dogs.
